19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after that period of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He defended 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
