From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
